I always wanted to learn musical instruments when I was a kid. There weren’t enough resources available at that time. I wanted the same for my son. Nowadays, people learn everything from YouTube. I thought I could do that too. However, it is not possible because there is no feedback loop. So, even if you play wrong there is no one to correct you. I googled ways to learn piano and stumbled upon Simply Piano. I looked into the review of the application. Before making a commitment I read several blogs and watched countless videos. I subscribed to the service about 6 months ago. It is an annual subscription for $119. It is not costly for an annual subscription. I thought I would give it a try and not a bad decision. I started learning and guess what my son got interested in it too. The app is very cool. There are courses that you can start right away. You do not need to have any experience with music, it will teach you things from scratch. I learned to read music notes in just a few weeks of practice. Of Course there are more advanced notes which I do not know. I stumble upon them once or twice frequently. I would rather neglect them now as Simply Piano would cover them in future courses. They are adding new songs almost every day. Most of the songs they add are for solo performance. I would like it if they would add chords + melody. Something like Adon (my son) played in the video. You can connect the app to your iPad or iPhone. I would recommend the iPad, as on the phone the notes look really small and hard to read. Do not use android, It hangs in android and there is lag. They might fix it in the future, as of today using the iPad. On the iPad it works really well. You connect the iPad using midi and the sound with sync with your piano speakers. The volume rockers on the piano also reduce the volume on the iPad. This is my current issue, because the volume of the piano is higher than the volume of the iPad, I cannot hear vocals. The notification keeps reminding me that I have to practice. It is best to at least practice 10 to 15 minutes a day so you do not forget. Anyway, music becomes better by practice. My son started playing a couple of months ago. He played “as the deer pants” for the school concert. I am super excited for him.
